VisionMagic works as a connector (an MCP server) for Claude and ChatGPT. Once it is connected you can ask, for example: which screens are offline, what is playing at a venue, how often a file played last week, or what the weather and holidays look like around a venue. It can also prepare changes for you, which you check before anything happens. For now it is open to VisionMagic’s own admins; ask us to switch it on for your workspace.
Connect it in Claude
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it VisionMagic and enter the address https://v2.visionmagic.co.uk/mcp. Leave the advanced settings empty.
- Choose Connect. VisionMagic opens: sign in if asked, tick the workspaces and what it may do, and choose Allow. You go back to Claude.
- In a chat, turn VisionMagic on from the tools menu and ask away.
Connect it in ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode under Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings (your plan must allow it).
- Choose Create (a new connector), name it VisionMagic, enter https://v2.visionmagic.co.uk/mcp and choose OAuth.
- Sign in to VisionMagic when asked, tick the workspaces and what it may do, and choose Allow.
- In a chat, add VisionMagic from the tools menu.
What it can do
- Look: workspaces and their time zone, screens (online or offline and since when), what a screen plays now, venues and the weather, air and holidays around them, the Library, playlists, schedules, proof of play, alerts, and whether a send has reached its screens.
- Prepare and make changes: make or change a playlist, a schedule (on screens or venues, in each screen’s local time), send a playlist or files to screens, take a file off (one screen, chosen playlists, or everywhere), and import a picture or video from a link.
- Not here: deleting, box app updates, licences, your team and workspace settings. Do those in the console.
How it keeps you safe
- Every change is a preview first: the assistant has to show you what will change and ask before it goes ahead.
- A change to more than ten screens, or taking a file off everywhere, waits for you: the assistant gives you a link, and you confirm it in the VisionMagic console yourself.
- It acts as you, only in the workspaces you ticked, and only with what you allowed. Everything it does is in the activity log and Publish history as via Claude (MCP) or via ChatGPT (MCP), and sends can be undone as usual.
- Screen names, locations and messages from boxes are passed to the assistant marked as untrusted, so text on a screen can’t give it orders.
- See and end connections under Account → Connected apps: Revoke stops it at once. Signing in again in Claude or ChatGPT makes a new connection.
